Kogi Police Dislodge Criminals, Clear Hideouts in Kabba/Bunu Forest Operations

Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello

The Kogi State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and local vigilante groups, has cleared identified criminal hideouts across forest corridors linking the Kabba/Bunu, Obajana, and Lokoja axis.

The joint bush clearance operation was executed on Thursday, August 20, 2026, following directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, to dismantle remote staging points used by criminal elements.

Security forces combed the Daji 2 Forest Zone and advanced to Amos Camp—a difficult terrain characterized by creeks and mountainous paths. During the operation, an abandoned settlement used as a hideout was cleared, while signs of recent movement indicated that suspects fled toward the Oyo Forest axis of Obajana ahead of the advancing team.

Speaking on the outcome, CP Naziru Kankarofi commended the joint forces for their resilience and reassured farmers and residents of sustained patrols to guarantee safety for daily and economic activities across the state.

The Command added that normal activities have resumed in the affected communities, with security formations maintaining heightened surveillance and intelligence gathering across major forest routes.
