Kogi Guber: ‘I’m Still in the Race’, Idoko Ilona Denies Stepping Down 

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the November 11 Kogi governorship election, Mr Idoko Ilona has expressed confidence to emerge as the next governor of the state.

In a statement on Saturday, Ilona described as false, media reports claiming he had thrown his weight behind the candidacy of Admiral Jibrin Usman Oyibe of the Accord Party (AP)

The APGA flag-bearer, Ilona said that he is the best candidate in the race with the right capacity to deliver Kogi from its present predicaments.

He reiterated; ‘I will not endorse any candidate, I will not step down unless I see a candidate with a better capacity’

The leading candidate in the election said that he is in the race to win and to build a state that will meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

Ilona, a business tycoon with a Guinness World Record to show, said that he had consulted the people and the elders of the state and and they have confidence in his capacity.

The aspirant who had grown a private business from eight million naira to over N30 billion in 20 years said he is ready turn the story of Kogi around.

He said that he is not desperate to be Governor but he is desperate for good leadership in Kogi and that he wants the best for the people.

“I have seen some social media reports claiming that I have stepped down from the governorship race.

“These are the works of detractors and enemies of Kogi; I assure you I will run this race to the finish and emerge the next governor of Kogi.

“In the mission to revive Kogi, there is no going back, the people have gone though a lot and this is the time for the state to enter into rest”

“Kogi is so dear to me to run away at a time the state needs me the most; Kogi is not where it should be and I present myself to take the state out of the woods,” he said.

The APGA candidate who pledged to internally generate N25 billion in revenue in one year if elected governor, said that he will ensure free education and healthcare for children and the aged.

The aspirant said that he had identified 56 companies to be established in the state at least one in each Local Government Area.

He said that his ambition is on a tripod known as ‘The Ilona-TEA’ Transparency, Equity and Accountability.

According to him, 50 percent of the security votes will go into education; with proper education and employment in the state, insecurity will die a quick natural death.
