Child Speaker, Halima Onyekehi Bags UN Rescue Ambassador Deal, Scholarship

 

The United Nations Rescue Service in Nigeria has decorated 8 year-old child public speaker, Halima Onyekehi  a noble ambassador of the organization.

The Global Chairman of UN Rescue, Amb Steve Midalah announced the honour on Thursday at the International Peace Summit by the organization held in Abuja.

The honour followed an outstanding speech presentation on global peace delivered at the event by Halima to the awe of the audience.

Midalah said he is proud to have a Nigerian girl of her age as the ambassador of the organization, hence awarding her a scholarship to the peak of her education career.

“We are also going to take care of her education from now till any level,” he promised.

Halima who is an ingenious speaker and girl-child advocate is also on her way to becoming a child author, as she would soon debut a book she wrote on the emancipation of the Nigerian girl-child.

This she disclosed earlier in January as the youngest speaker at a Tedx Event in Kogi State.

Halima Abdulkareem Onyekehi was born on 20th November 2012 in Abuja-FCT to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Abudulkareem Onyekehi Suleiman. She hails from Ajaokuta Local Government, Kogi State.

She has delivered speeches on Girl Child rights at several public functions including the Kogi State Independence Day event, TEDx Okene, International Girl Child Day event organized by AIT, NTA programs, Nothern Nigeria Award, Ned Nwoko Zero Malaria Project, and the most recent being the UN Rescue event. UN Rescue Mission and many more. She is also a face to contend with at several debates in and out of her school.

 She is home-mentored by her parents on public speaking. Her future ambition is to become a legal practitioner. This is motivated by her respect for human rights especially the Girl Child rights. 

Halima loves to read, write, screenplay and strives for success. She is the first born of her parents.
