Ohi of Okene: Kingmakers Shop for Replacement, Appoint Regent

 

Barely four months after the passing of Alhaji Yakubu Yusuf, the Kingmakers in Okene Local Government Area have commenced processes to fill the vacant stool of Ohi of Okene.

The kingmakers disclosed this on Wednesday in a meeting with Okene Local Government Chairman, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad.

The Special Adviser to the Chairman on Media and Publicity, Mr. Abdulmumin Abubakar reported that the highpoint of the meeting was to appreciate the chairman for his supports and encouragement as the kingmakers began their statutory responsibility of selecting a credible and qualified candidate to fill the vacant stool of Ohi as required by law.

He said: “They also presented to the council chairman, a member of the kingmakers, Alh. Ige Obaro as the newly elected regent or acting Ohi of Okene/Okengwe for a period of three months pending the screening and selection of a substantive Ohi.

“In a remark, the chairman of Okene local government, Hon. Abdulrazaq thanked the kingmakers and assured them of his continue support to carry out their function in line with the gazetted document guiding the selection and appointment of Ohi by the state government.

“He congratulated the new regent and urged him to use the period to contribute to peace and development of the kingdom.
