Gov Bello Moves to Stop Payment of Grants to Former Governors, Deputies

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has commenced move to stop the payment of grants to the former governors of the state and their deputies.

Bello on Wednesday wrote the state House of Assembly, communicating his intentions to put an end to such privileges.

Attached to the letter read by the Speaker of the House, Matthew Kolawole, the Governor forwarded a an Executive bill to repeal the law which grant special grants to former Governors, deputies and others in the state.

According to the Governor’s letter, the state could no longer afford paying due to financial constraints.

In another development, the Governor forwarded the names of Akintola Muritala Kolade and Saliu Omeiza Otu for screening into the state Judicial Service Commission and as Chairman Kogi State Public procurement respectively.

Meanwhile, the House of Assembly has commenced the third legislative session without a celebration due to the industrial action embarked upon by Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN)

The Speaker disclosed that the celebration of the legislative session has been scheduled for another date.
