Kogi Poly Withdraws 229 Students over Poor Academic Performance

The Management of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, withdrawn 229 students for poor academic performance and approved the first semester examination results for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The decision which was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Coordinator, Public Relations and Protocols, John Amos Onimisi, was reached during the institution’s Academic Board meeting, held on May 12, 2026, under the chairmanship of Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime, the Rector.

The meeting was attended by principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and other members of the Academic Board, who deliberated extensively on academic matters affecting the Polytechnic.

According to the institution, the approval of the results followed a thorough verification exercise conducted by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee.

The committee was said to have carefully scrutinized submissions from various schools and departments to ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance with the Polytechnic’s academic regulations.

A breakdown released by the institution showed that the affected students were drawn from National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), and various departments including Accountancy, Business Administration, Computer Science, Public Administration, Science Laboratory Technology, Mass Communication, Library and Information Science, Office Technology and Management, among others.

The Board noted that the withdrawals were in line with the Polytechnic’s academic regulations and were aimed at maintaining academic excellence and preserving the quality of certificates awarded by the institution.

Speaking after the meeting, the Rector commended members of the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee for their diligence, professionalism, and commitment during the verification exercise.

Professor Avidime stated that the committee’s efforts have continued to strengthen the institution’s academic integrity and uphold high educational standards necessary for producing competent graduates.

He stressed that the Board’s decision was taken in the overall interest of sustaining quality education and encouraging seriousness, discipline and improved academic commitment among students across all programmes of the institution.
