Kogi CP Disburses N52.8m To Families of Fallen Officers

The Kogi State Police Command has presented cheques worth over N52.8m to families of 27 police officers who died in active service, under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Family Welfare Scheme.

In a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, the Command said the gesture was part of the IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of officers’ families.

The Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), DCP Baba Mallam Alhaji, made the presentations in Lokoja on Thursday.

Aya disclosed that a total sum of N52,885,344.83 (Fifty-Two Million, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand, Three Hundred and Forty-Four Naira, Eighty-Three Kobo) was disbursed to the beneficiaries.

In his remarks, DCP Baba urged the families to put the funds to judicious use, stressing that the initiative reflected the IGP’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their households.

“The sacrifices of our fallen heroes will never be forgotten,” he added, reaffirming the police leadership’s dedication to improving the welfare of serving and retired officers as well as families of those who paid the supreme price.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the IGP for the financial support, noting that it would help cushion the impact of their loss and support the upkeep of their families.
