World Drug Day: VGADA Meets with Kogi Deputy Governor

The Deputy Governor of Kogi State l, Edward David Onoja on Tuesday received the team from Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA) in Lokoja, the state capital.

Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA), a Nationally recognized NGO headquartered in Abuja with a 120 bed space capacity drug rehabilitation center led by her President, Dr Hope Omeiza was on a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor.

The organization in commemorating the World Drug Day, has embarked on a 2 Days Sensitization and training on Drug Abuse Prevention for over 60 CSOs and NGOs across the state.

The Deputy Governor while commending VGADA, said he appreciates and commend the organization for their assistance in redirecting the young people who have been trapped in this social disaster of drug abuse.

He stated that drug and substance abuse are correlated with the high rate of insecurity in Nigeria, this is evidence with the revelations by the law enforcement agents whenever they uncover the hideouts of the perpetrators of these crimes.

The Deputy Governor stressed that apart from the influence and drive for ransom, drug is the other influence that will make a human being capture his fellow humans forcefully, take them into the bush and mete out extreme wickedness on them.

While the Deputy Governor acknowledges the excellent results emanating from the organization’s rehabilitation center in Abuja, he stated that he has also referred a patient to that facility.

He also pledged to always support the organization in ways possible that will help further the campaign against drug abuse.

Speaking, the President of Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA), Dr Hope Omeiza, appreciated His Excellency and took him through the various projects has embarked upon since it’s commencement in 2018.

He further thanked him for his commitment towards reshaping the destiny of youths from the trap of drugs.
