Banking Logistics Responsible for Delay In March Pension, Says Kogi Govt

The Kogi State Government has denounced the story that state pensioners were owed their March entitlement.

The government said, on the contrary, there was a delay in the payment of the March pension due to banking logistics.

The state Commissioner of Finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris spoke on behalf of the government on the sideline of the widely circulated rumour that the state governor, Yahaya Bello had used the March Pension to conduct his presidential flag-Off in Abuja a fortnight ago.

Asiru said that the government was not owing pensioners and attributed the difficulty in the March payments to network failure.

The Commissioner said, “the delay in payment of March pensions was due to logistics problems of transferring the money from Access Bank to UBA.”

He however urged pensioners in the state to exercise patience and avoid anxiety, as the banks are making efforts to resolve the problems and affect their payments within possible time.

He said the state government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello prioritise salaries of workers and pensioners and will do everything that will ensure the prompt payment of such, as the state government is known for.
