Okene/Ogori-Magongo: Ogembe Announced Winner of Primary Despite ‘Not Cleared’ Status

Despite declared not cleared by the screening committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sanni Salau Ogembe has been declared winner of the primary election of Okene/Ogori-Magongo.

Recall that the party through the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka had released a list of aspirants including Ogembe, not cleared to participate in the primary election.

However, announcing the result on Saturday, the Returning Officer, Abdulkadiri Yahaya Omeiza declared Ogembe winner, defeating his closest rivals by a wide margin.

Ogembe polled 31,651, and trailed by Audu Omeiza Moses who got 1,141 votes. The incumbent member representing the constituency, Tijani Ahmed Ozigi came third with 349 votes.

In Yagba Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker Leke Abejide secured the party’s ticket after defeating Babagbemi Joseph in the direct primary election.

Also victorious were Sanni Egidi Abdulkareem, representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, and Abdullahi Ali Halims of Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Federal Constituency, who both clinched the APC tickets in their respective constituencies.

Similarly, Suleiman Danladi Aguye emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency. He is the current member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives.
