House of Representatives member, Leke Abejide, has secured a landslide victory in the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary for Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State, winning all 34 wards across Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Local Government Areas.

The direct primary, held on Saturday, recorded a large turnout of APC members who participated in the exercise to elect the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Results collated from the three local government areas showed overwhelming support for the incumbent lawmaker, with party officials describing the outcome as decisive.

The exercise was conducted peacefully across the constituency, with stakeholders praising its orderly conduct and transparency.

Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, who voted in Mopamuro LGA, described the process as free, fair and credible.

“You can see how excited party members are to exercise their rights to nominate candidates of the party for the general elections. It was hitch-free and fair across Mopamuro Local Government Area,” he said.

Fanwo said Abejide polled 892 votes in his ward, while his challenger scored two votes, adding that a similar pattern played out across other wards.

“Our party members have spoken and their voices have been respected,” he added.

Party leaders in Yagba East and Yagba West attributed Abejide’s victory to his grassroots engagement and constituency outreach.

They described the result as a reflection of his popularity and performance in office.

With results from all 34 wards, Abejide has emerged as the APC candidate for Yagba Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

Party stakeholders expressed optimism that the outcome would strengthen unity within the party ahead of the general elections.
