Okene Council Chairman Calls on FG to Intervene on Okene-Auchi Road

 

The Chairman of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to immediately intervene in the absymal state of Okene-Auchi road that has caused hardship to motorist due to long hour traffic-jam and avoidable accidents resulting in loss of lives and properties.

The chairman made the call on Monday when he led his cabinet members and security officers to inspect the road and provided palliative measures to ease traffic jam. Two patrol trucks laden with fuel had fell on the road causing serious hardship and tension to both motorist and residents of the area.

Hon. Abdulrazaq maintained that the Auchi-Okene road is the main federal road that connect the north with the south-south and the eastern part of the country. The road is also a major means of transportation to Dangote and BUA cement companies as well as the movement of petroleum products from Benin depot.

He call on the Minister of Works to immediately direct the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to provide sustainable palliatives measures as a short-time solution while pleading with the contractors to hasten work on the construction of Okene-Auchi standard dual carriageway.
