Gov. Bello Warns Politicians against Importing Thugs to Kogi

Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has warned politicians against mixing politics with security of lives and livelihood in the political season.

Bello gave the warning while speaking on Sunday at the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, where he assured that his government would continue to do its best to reward their sacrifices.

He stressed that no individual irrespective of how highly placed, must take laws into their hands and hide under the guise of politics to import criminals and terrorists into the state adding that anyone caught would be dealt with decisively.

The Governor also tasked leaders in the nation to ensure that they cater for the families of fallen heroes while those alive must be well appreciated and rewarded in order that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

Bello said, “Today we are commemorating the memories our fallen heroes, the Nigerian Armed Forces and all uniformed men who have paid the supreme sacrifice so that we can live in peace and harmony.”

“I appreciate the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, Department of State Securities, Civil Defence Corps and other uniformed men for their sacrifices and services across the nation and specifically in Kogi State,” he added.

He pointed out that the security formations in the state have continued to do their best in ousting criminals from the society reiterating that criminals have no place under his administration in Kogi State hence his government would continue to apprehend and make them to face the full wrath of the law.

He promised that his government would continue to pay serious attention to the security, safety and well-being of the citizens as well as passers-by.

The governor while thanking the citizens, charged them to go about their lawful businesses stressing that they must conduct themselves appropriately even while campaigning for their respective candidates without engaging in any criminal activity.

The state security adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) while addressing the press pointed out that the significance of the yearly event reflects largely in the show of oneness among the security agencies in Kogi State.

Among the highlights of the event were inspection of guard of honour mounted by the Command Army Records, the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian legion. Prayers were offered for the departed souls and their families, laying of wreaths in honour and remembrance of many who have paid the ultimate price in the service of their nation
