Following the emergence of Ahmed Usman Ododo as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 11th governorship election in Kogi State, there have been widespread rumour on his relationship with Governor Yahaya Bello.
Senator Smart Adeyemi was first to go to press with the rumour during an interview with Channels TV earlier in April.
The report, now found to be false, linked Ododo to be Yahaya Bello’s cousin; a relationship said to have influenced Bello’s support for the candidate’s ambition.

Whilst both politicians hail from Okene Local Government Area of the state, they are not related on either paternal or maternal sides of the state.
More so, they are also from different clans. Governor Bello comes from Ehebe clan in Agassa, and Ododo is from Akuta clan in Upogoro district.
