Kogi Guber: Dino Melaye Wins PDP Ticket 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has successfully concluded the governorship primary elections in Kogi State, and Dino Melaye has emerged winner of the ticket

Melaye who is a former Senator representing Kogi West emerged the flag-bearer of PDP for the November 11th off-cycle governorship election in the state.

 

He defeated eight other aspirants who jostled for the party’s ticket.

 

Former Governor, Ahmed Makarfi who served as the Returning Officer of the Direct Primary election held in Lokoja, declared Melaye, having polled the highest votes.

 

He polled 313 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ilona Idoko Kingsley who polled 124 votes.

 

Yomi Awoniyi scored 77 votes, Musa Wada scored 56 votes, Atta Aidoko Usman 10 votes , Haruna Abdullahi  4 votes, Ilona Idoko Kingsley 124 votes Ojaja Gideon Enema 5 votes.

 

The primary election had 6 invalid votes.

 

Melaye will be having a head-on battle for votes with the candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ahmed Usman Ododo and Leke Abejide respectively.
