Commercial motorcyclists fondly called okada have embarked on an indefinite strike in the central senatorial district of Kogi State.

Details emerging indicated that the action by the riders was to press home their decision to hike their fares by 100 percent.

A resident of Okene who spoke with our correspondent and had monitored the body language of the leadership of the motorcyclists’ union while addressing the people on Jatto FM, stated that the union complained about hike in price of maintenence, especially spare parts.

According to him, the residents and local government authorities were not having it with the union, hence the strike.

The strike has no doubt affected commuters  whose convenient means of transportation within the five local government areas of the district was okada.

The have been left with the only choice of taxi which only use the major roads in the town.
