The Kogi governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Fatima Taiye Suleiman has stepped down for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the November 11th election in the state.
Mrs. Suleiman disclosed her decision to journalists in Lokoja, stating her reason was to support the good works of the present administration.
Ahead of the Kogi State governorship election on November 11, former candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Fatima Suleiman, has said she stepped down for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Ododo, to continue the good work of the present administration.
She described Ododo as a man who could deliver good governance to his people, adding that his track records and achievements were enough evidence for Kogites to vote massively for him at the poll.
Disclosing that she had collapsed her structure into that of the APC candidate, Suleiman stated that she had begun to mobilise women across the 21 local councils of Kogi to campaign and vote for APC.
According to her, the choice of Ododo by APC is a step in the right direction, as he will consolidate the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello. Suleiman maintained that after evaluating other candidates jostling for the governorship, Ododo appeared as the only candidate with the capacity to change the fortunes of Kogi for good.
She said her withdrawal from the governorship election was not out of sentiment, but for the interest of Kogites, who were yearning for good governance.
“My withdrawal from the forthcoming election is for the interest of Kogi. I was the only female candidate then, but I have seen a man with capacity and determination to work for his people. That man is Ododo. He has the quality to continue the good work of Governor Bello. I have looked at other candidates; none of them can match this man. We should not deceive ourselves; this election is already a walk-over for APC. It is for APC and no other party,” he said.
Suleiman admonished Kogites to put aside ethnic, religious and political sentiments and vote for Ododo, who she described as a competent, reliable, dependable and well-focused candidate, willing to work for the development of Kogi.
Five political parties, under the auspices of United Progressive Political Parties, endorsed Ododo for the November 11 governorship election. They are Action Democratic Party (ADP), Action People’s Party (APP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), National Rescue Movement (NRM) and Because Of Our Tomorrow (BOOT) Party.
