Kogi Guber: Group Dissociates Self from Consensus, Declares Support for Jibrin

Ahead of November 2023 governorship election in Kogi state, a group under the auspices of Udama Igala has dissociated itself from a consensus candidate announced by Gabriel Aduku led committee for Igala nation.

The group in a statement signed by Sule Salifu in Lokoja , described the arrangement as null and void , saying their support for the forthcoming governorship election is for the candidate of Accord Party, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (retd).

According to the statement, the purported endorsement which took place at Ayingba in Dekina local government area of Kogi state only involved five persons across the nine local government areas, stressing that Udama Igala is a combination of so many socio-cultural associations which cut across the nine LGAs in Igala land.

The statement noted that Gabriel Adukwu has no justification and public trust to present a consensus candidate for the Igala nation, revealing that Jubrin’s endorsement was subject to his wide level of experience, competency, capacity and strength to pilot the affairs of Kogi State.

“As a retired naval chief , the governorship candidate has enormous connections and experience to take the state to the promise land. We therefore appealed to the electorate in the state to rally support for the Accord Party candidate” the statement said.
