2023 Elections: NSCDC Hosts Kogi INEC Commissioner 

As part of preparations for the 2023 elections in Kogi State, and in a bid to build bridges across Federal Government agencies in the state, the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, CD Oyinloye John Kayode on Wednesday assured adequate security cover for the forthcoming general elections.

The Commandant gave the assurance when he received the Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission REC in the state, Dr Gabriel Langtang at his office in Lokoja.

In a press release signed by the Public relations officer of the Command, Alex Agiri said the synergy is to strengthen the Electoral process in the state.

According to the statement , the forthcoming general elections is so crucial to the nation that needs all hands to be on deck to making the exercise successful.



He charged the REC to leverage the successes recorded in the few off-circle elections conducted to garner more confidence of the people, adding that the nation is eagerly counting on the commission to conduct world-class elections.

He commended him for the visit and pledge to support the commission in the area of provision of security for the elections.

In a remark, the REC commended the Corps for their roles in ensuring free and fair elections in the state.

He urged them not to relent on their oars as the country enters into very crucial moments in their quest to have an election that will meet both local and international Communities.

 

He explained that the role of NSCDC in the electoral process cannot be overemphasized as the commission has built a niche for herself in the previous elections and in the general performance of its core mandate.
