Abductors Kill Woman After Collecting N300,000 Ransom in Kogi

The corpse of an abducted woman, Jummai Usman Daniel, has been found in Ogane-Aji-Anyigba in Kogi state.

Late Mrs Daniel, who hails from Oganenigwu but settled at Ogane-aji–Anyigba, was said to be in a company of her little grandson in her house when the hoodlums came in to kidnap her last Wednesday.

According to a family source, the abductors picked her around 8pm and whisked her into the bush.

The family stated that the hoodlums contacted them on Thursday, demanding N2m ransom.

The source said “the initial ransom demand of N2 million was later reduced to N300,000 which the family paid through a POS, as requested her alleged kidnappers in a phone contact.

“After we had paid the money, we did not see her. Later, the kidnappers told us to check at the back of her house.

“We were surprised to see her corpse under a cashew tree behind her house on Friday night.”

The POS operator was said to have been arrested by vigilantes and hunters in the area on Saturday, and handed over to the police.

When contacted, the Kogi State Police Command’s spokesman, SP William Aya promised to get in touch but did not as at the time of this report.
