Kidnapped Kogi Businesswoman Regains Freedom after Paying N5m Ransom 

Mrs. Ugochukwu Okpala, owner of Seat of Wisdom Supermarket in Lokoja, Kogi State has regained freedom from her kidnappers. 

Okpala was kidnapped on Friday 4th March 2022 shortly after closing for the day.

Confirming her release, a family source said she regained freedom after the payment of N5 million ransom.

The source said others rallied round to raise the ransom, over two weeks after her abduction.

“We remain grateful to God Almighty that she was freed in whole. Now, where do we go from here? Everyone rallied round. We had to combine forces to put up money. Five million naira was paid before they let the woman go. What is all these?” The source queried.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, is yet to confirm the release of Mrs Okpala.

Phone calls to him went unanswered as of the time of filing this report.
