Political heavyweights and grassroots leaders in Kogi East Senatorial District have declared that the zone will reward President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo with massive votes in the 2027 general elections following a wave of infrastructural development across the region.
The endorsement came as the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Communications Team conducted an on-the-spot inspection of federal and state government legacy projects across the senatorial district.
Speaking during the inspection in Ankpa, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Joseph Oluwasegun, highlighted a major 12-kilometre internal road project equipped with a 24-kilometre double-sided drainage network.
The project was executed through the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) scheme—a World Bank counterpart-funded initiative.
Oluwasegun praised Governor Ododo for consistently prioritizing the payment of state counterpart funds, which allowed the World Bank to release its intervention financing.
“Governor Ododo is one of the governors who never default on counterpart funding. This project goes beyond road construction; it includes land reclamation, soil stabilization, and erosion channelization to protect communities and free up land for agriculture,” the commissioner stated.
He added that over $2 million had been disbursed to local farming cooperatives through the project’s micro-loan component to boost rural livelihoods and support food security.
Welcoming the inspection team, the Chairman of Ankpa Local Government Area, Ademu Yahaya, described the erosion control and road intervention as the single largest government project in the history of the local government.
“Ankpa is an old local government dating back to the old Benue-Plateau and Kwara states. But I can say this is the most impactful project any administration has brought here. We cannot thank the Governor and President Tinubu enough. We will show our appreciation fully at the polls,” Yahaya declared.
Similarly, the Secretary of the Olubojo Community, Yahaya Samuel, noted that the project ended years of severe environmental degradation and financial loss for residents, pledging the community’s full support for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in upcoming elections.
The inspection team, accompanied by the spokesman for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tunde Rahman, also visited Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in Anyigba to inspect ongoing federal tertiary education interventions.
Projects inspected at the university include, College of Health Sciences Building, funded under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) 2024 Intervention at N643 million; and the New University Senate Building, Constructed under TETFund’s 2024 High-Impact Intervention at N3.1 billion.
