The Kogi State Government has sealed Daarul-Kitab Islamic School and Orphanage where gunmen had abducted nine people.
The government sealed off the school on Thursday, barely two days after the kidnap victims were rescued by security agencies.
The State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones who led his team to seal the school, directed the proprietor of the school to report to the Ministry with immediate effect.
He directed that the school will remain closed until government is satisfied that all the requirements for the establishment of school are meant before it can be reopened.
Kogi state government, he said, is alive to its responsibility of ensuring that schools in the state are conducive and safe for teaching and learning, noting that the government will not compromise standards in the establishment of schools.
The Commissioner said though the proprietor has commenced the process of registration, the school ought not to have been opened until approval is given.
