The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Karimi, has declared that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only candidate for Kogi State in the 2027 presidential election.
The senator emphasised that, being the only option, “we will work for him.”
Senator Karimi, who made this known in a press statement on Wednesday, noted that the recent observation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the early onset of electioneering activities ahead of the 2027 general elections is timely and relevant.
“While I will not dismiss this observation of INEC, I find it necessary to add my voice to ongoing conversations about the upcoming presidential election.
“Let me be very categorical: for us in Kogi State, the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is our sole option. There is no two ways about it.
“More than any administration in recent political history, Kogi State has benefited significantly from tangible infrastructural development and human capital investment under the Tinubu administration.
“Road networks traversing Kogi State from the North, South, East, and West are receiving attention, commensurate with the resources available to the federal government”
He added that the 614-kilometre Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, initiated during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, in 2020 to drive national socioeconomic development, has reached 75 per cent completion under President Tinubu. Kogi State is set to be a major beneficiary of this project upon its operationalisation.
“Long-standing requests for the establishment of additional federal universities to expand access to higher education are now receiving accelerated attention from the Tinubu government.
“Furthermore, our people are being recognised and appointed to various departments and agencies, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He stressed that Kogi State has suffered in the past from policy inconsistencies and the discontinuation of well-meaning developmental projects. Examples include the stalled dualisation of the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene and Okene–Auchi-Benin roads, as well as the rehabilitation of the Kabba–Isanlu-Egbe-Ilorin road. The Tinubu administration has resumed work on these critical projects, aimed at enhancing the lives of Kogi State residents and improving road conditions nationwide.
“As things stand, the people of Kogi State are not interested in political experimentation or in seeking an alternative president and national leader. We have no Plan B — despite such suggestions being floated in some quarters. We will stand firmly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR — the leader we know and trust. There will be no wavering, no second-guessing in this commitment. To the doubters: it’s time to smell the coffee,” he said.
