Video: Former Kogi Governor, Bello Submits Self to EFCC

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello on Tuesday submitted himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bello reported himself following several months hide and seek game between him and the anti-graft agency.

Bello has had a running battle with the EFCC in two different suits against him and others bordering on money laundering throughout his administration.

The charge against the defendants borders on alleged criminal breach of trust to the tune of N110,446,470,089, contrary to sections 96 and 311 of the Penal Code Law Cap.89, Laws of Northern Nigeria, 1963, and punishable under section 312 of the same law.

Recall that last week, a federal high court in Maitama extended the time for Yahaya Bello, former Kogi governor, to respond to the public summons issued against him.

The Court adjourned to Wednesday, November 27th 2024 to take proceedings.

At the time of filing this report, the EFCC has not acknowledged custody of the former Governor.
