Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) Senator Titus Zam has accused Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) of ignorance, trying to inject herself in a committee she was neither a member nor invited.
Recall that a mild drama had taken place in Senator Zam’s office where Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and her aides had gone for questions on why she was not invited, but ended in heated quarrels.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had claimed that she was being sidelined as a Senator from the North Central and demanded what she claimed to be her rights.
However, reacting in a statement, the Chairman of the committee noted that being from the North Central does not qualify membership of a committee.
“Many other north central senators are not members because senators from other zones in Nigeria are mixed up in all the development commission committees for the purpose of national character. For Eg, senator Pam from plateau state too is not a member of NCDC, because Senators plang and Lalong are members,” he said.
Senator Zam said his colleague acted out of ignorance by trying to forcefully inject herself in a committee two Senators from Kogi were already members.
“She (Sen. Natashah) is not a member of the committee and was not invited to the budget defence meeting. Two senators from kogi are members indeed senator Sani Jubrin is my vice chairman of NCDC while Sen Sunday y Karimi is a member.
After the budget defence meeting, Sen Natasha came several hours later to complain against her not being invited. I told her she’s not a member, so she couldn’t have been invited.
She, as usual ignorantly claimed that being from north central Nigeria, she ought to have been a member. A brief argument ensued, and I told her to approach the senate “committee on selection” and lodge her complaint. After a back and forth movement, she left my office,” he said.
