The Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Mr Abdulraheem on Monday midnight led a security team to Ihima Guest House, a hotel in the Ihima axis of the local government, and arrested no fewer than seven suspected internet fraudsters.
Media aide to the Chairman, identified on Facebook as King Habib, posted the story with visuals and reported that the operation lasted for two hours.
According to Habib, the suspected yahoo syndicate “comprises of seven males; four from Ondo state, two from Ihima, one from Okene and two females from Adavi Local Government Area were nabbed by the security agencies alongside their phones and other accessories.
He reported that they confessed to defrauding people, and only recently relocated from Ondo State to Kogi to continue their fraudulent activities.
“Presently, they are in the custody of the security agents helping with information that would lead to the arrest of others even as the Local Government Legal Team would approach a competent Court of Law before the Official Sealing of the so called Ihima Guest House.
“The Council Chairman who applauded the security agents for the success of the operation furthermore, appreciated His Excellency, Alh Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State for making Security of lives and property of the citizens his top notch priority,” he said.
