Kogi Governor-elect, Ododo Receives Certificate of Return, Promises to Serve with Fear of God

Kogi State Governor-elect, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo on Friday, alongside his Deputy, Comr. Joel Salifu Oyibo received their certificates of return at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Lokoja, the state capital.

ebirareporters.com recalls that Ododo won the November 11th governorship election, defeating his rivals, Murtala Yakubu Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The INEC National Commissioner representing Kogi, Kwara and Niger, Prof. Sanni Muhammed Adams presented the certificates of return to the winners.

In his acceptance speech, the Governor-elect said the certificate of return symbolized not only victory, but also a call to serve the people.

He assured of his commitment to the development and unity of the state, promising to serve with the fear of God and humility.

He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing a level-playing ground for all the candidates in the election, and Governor Yahaya Bello for trusting him with leadership.

“Our mission to Kogi state is one of progress, unity, development and sheer prosperity. I invite every citizen of our dear state to join us in building a future that reflects our collective mission to serve our state. Together, we can overcome challenges and make Kogi State a shining example of development and success,” he said.

Governor Yahaya Bello on his part, thanked INEC and all security agencies for their roles in ensuring that the election was free and fair.

“Kogi state citizens have spoken, we have accepted and the certificate of return has been given to the two gentlemen elected as governor and deputy governor,” he said.

He called on all the contenders in the governorship polls to learn lessons rather than antagonize.

He urged them to join hands with Ododo to develop the state, and assured of his commitment to ensuring peace and tranquility till the end of his tenure.
