Next Governorship Election, Walkover for APC – Governor Yahaya Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello has assured of victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next governorship election in Kogi State.

Governor Bello gave the assurance while addressing stakeholders at the declaration of the party’s flag-bearer, Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The off-cycle governorship election has been scheduled to hold in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states on November 11, 2023.

The Governor stated that the party’s primary election exercise took place across the state rancor-free and with no indication of violence anywhere. This, he described as an indication that the flag-bearer was generally accepted across the state.

He noted that while eighteen aspirants indicated intent for the race, only seven made it to the election.

Bello thanked the aspirants who withdrew from the race for the unity and cohesion of the party, as well as those who lost the election for accepting the outcome.

He called everyone to join hands to deliver APC in the November election.

“No opposition in the state. We have done it 2015, 2019 and 2023 and we will deliver overwhelmingly. Of course, the November governorship election is going to be a walkover by God’s grace,” Bello assured.

He urged the people not to listen to any religious or tribal sentiment, as the nomination of the party’s flag-bearer was based on integrity and competence.

“We will give him the maximum support to succeed. He will consolidate on our modest achievement so far. Many amongst them is our unity in diversity,” he said.

He called on party members to canvass and mobilize voters for the election, and win every polling unit.

“Preach peace, talk to issues, don’t abuse, don’t insult. Shun fake news and enlighten the people to know what they don’t know. Let us ensure that we continue to build on the peace we are enjoying today. When they go low, we go high.”
