Kogi Youths Kick as Oseni, Adeyemi, Echocho Vote Against E-Transmission of Results

Following the outcome of the voting session which resulted in rejection of electronic transmission of election results, Kogi youths have taken to social media to express disappointment in Senators Yakubu Oseni, Jibrin Echocho and Smart Adeyemi representing Central, East and West senatorial districts of the state respectively.

The trio Senators had joined 49 other Senators to reject Clause 52(3) of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill that provided for electronic transfer of election results.

The APC senators rejected the clause because the Nigeria Communications Commissiom had declared that only 43 percent of the country was currently under effective telecommunications coverage.

However, their actions have met with heavy criticisms on social media, and described by the youths of the state as an attempt to usurp power come 2023.

Olugbemi Ojo Tina said : “Clueless 3 senators from kogi state voted against E-transmission. We shall overcome. Even someone who claimed to be a journalist.”

Even Smart Adeyemi’s predecessor, Senator Dino Melaye likened their actions to killing the efforts of the founding founders of the nation.

He posted: “what a shame and catastrophe…Those who voted against electronic transmission of result today including all our senators from Kogi have killed the robust efforts of our founding fathers in building a just and egalitarian Nigeria. Awolowo, Zik and Sadauna turning in thier graves.”
