The member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hassan Baiwa has tendered a public apology after critics weighed on him for leaking a chat with one of his constituents, Shehu Mudi who begged him for money to feed.
ebirareporters.com learnt that the constituent, Mudi had called the lawmaker out on Social Media over poor representation and whether he should continue in the next general election.
To get back at Mudi, the lawmaker leaked a chat wherein Mudi begged him for money to feed his family.
However, the issue became a topic on Facebook, with divergent reactions, and expression of disappointments from critics.
In a rejoined signed by the lawmaker, he expressed apologies, stating that his intentions were “not meant to beelittle him in anyway, but to made clear the ulterior motive for his statement.”
“I’m a public office holder and everyone has the liberty to express their grievances which in a true democratic atmosphere, I’m not against.
“I understand that leadership is a burden and it’s not everyone that knows how heavily it weighs on our shoulders, but bearing those burdens and yet being insulted can sometimes be tiresome.
“I hereby, in absolute humility appeal to our youths not to be in haste to resort to image tarnishing of their leaders because their personal needs are not sometimes met at the time they desire, at such times, the public needs may be at priority. I hereby beg for your patience and understanding instead of anger and vituperation.”
