In partnership with Automotive Gas Nigeria Service Limited, Kogi State Government is set to establish CNG stations, provide mass conversion services, conduct Autogas CNG advocacy programs, and facilitate CNG conversion for the youth in Kogi State.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo stated this during the flag-off ceremony of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas initiative at Lokoja Mega Terminal.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Ayoade Arike, disclosed that the State is a strategic and geographical location for advanced CNG infrastructure, adding that abundant natural gas resources make it an ideal hub for CNG expansion.
Dr. Arike emphasized that Kogi State’s unique position offers vast opportunities to grow CNG services, improving transportation efficiency and promoting cleaner energy solutions.
She stressed the importance of forming strong partnerships with individuals and organizations to attract investors interested in promoting clean energy in Nigeria.
Dr. Arike urged the residents of Kogi State to support this initiative and help make the state a model for clean energy adoption in Nigeria.
In his address, the Hon Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi, stated that the flag off of this initiative is a right step in the right direction.
He further stated that adopting the initiative under the able leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo reiterates the current administration’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of the people of the state, noting how CNG as an alternative fuel presents an opportunity to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote air quality and promote energy efficiency.
Hon Atuluku called on critical stakeholders to take advantage of the opportunities presented by this initiative to ensure economic growth, environmental sustainability and improved quality of life.
In his remark, the Strategies Business Executive Advisory PCNG, Mr Babajide Awolowo, said that the initiative is a catalyst for the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.
He went further to say that the course is an alternative source that will promote cost effectiveness amid Nigeria’s current situation.
He, however, congratulated and commended the State Government and Autogas Service for the milestone achievement.
The MD/CEO of Automotive Gas Nigeria Services Limited, Hajiya Maryam Salihu Ibrahim, in her address, stated Autogas Nigeria is ready to join the Kogi State Government in making the state a CNG development hub, describing the state as a business-friendly environment and a prime location that will attract profitable returns for major CNG infrastructural projects.
Hajiya Maryam avouched that the program is a crucial step in the collective journey towards a cleaner and more sustainable future for our dear state and nation.
She, however, sought collaboration, exciting opportunities, and exploration to ensure a positive impact on Nigeria’s energy landscape.
