Kogi Kidnapping Upsurge: We’ll Deal with Criminals in the Language They Understand — Govt

In a move nip the rising cases of kidnapping in Kogi State, the government has said that it will deal ruthlessly with criminals in the language they understand in the next few weeks.

In the last one week alone, Kogi State had recorded kidnappings in Okene, Kabba and Mopa/Amuro Local Government Areas, contrary to the existing peace enjoyed before now.

The State Security Adviser, to the governor, retired Commander Jerry Omodara disclosed this over the weekend while speaking with newsmen.

Omodara said government was aware of the rising cases of kidnapping in the state, saying efforts are in top gear to arrest the situation.

“I want to assure you that we’ll deal with all these criminals in the language they understand to stop them from executing their nefarious acts,” he stated.

According to him, the government in partnership with security agencies are working round the clock to ensure improved safety of lives and property.

“The administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has done much for the state security sector which has earned the state recognition as the most peaceful and safest state in Nigeria. We will not allow any group to tarnish this image.”

He noted that the State Security Architecture is being reviewed for more deployment of security personnel on Highways and praying grounds ahead of the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

Commander Omodara assured the people of the State especially travellers of their safety before, during and after the celebration.

The Security Adviser appealed to the people to assist security agencies with necessary information to enable them perform effectively.

Commander Omodara while congratulating Muslims on the Sallah celebration, urged the Media to put the national interest first in the discharge of their assignment.
