Kogi: House of Reps Member Takes Over Construction of 15km Road abandoned by FG

..

Tired of the stories coming from the Federal Government, the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide mobilised contractors to begin the construction of Iluagba-Isanlu road in Kogi State.

Despite awarding the road, the Federal Government had refused to mobilize contractors to the site due to paucity of funds, but Abejide could no longer wait.

In a statement by the lawmaker sent to Ebira Reporters, the lawmaker decided to personally fund the construction of the 15km road scheduled to be completed in 50 days.

“I decided to send my Team on Infrastructure for inspection of the Road and I equally paid ChannelsTV to visit the Road to call attention of Mr President and concerned Nigerians to know what we are passing through in our fatherland which they did. Having seen the report especially from Iluagba to Isanlu, I knew the problem is beyond palliative measure but total construction.

“I have taken it upon myself to construct the 15 Kilometers from ILUAGBA to ISANLU starting from today. I have paid the contractors substantial deposit yesterday the 3/11/2021 to move to site and by end of today equipments will get to the site.

“It will take us approximately 50 days to complete the project because bulldozer has to first bulldoze all the road by scraping off completely the remaining little broken tarred portions and expand the road to Isanlu before real work will commence. By the time I finished, what will remain is just to lay asphalt on it which is the final stage and if the contractor didn’t do their work as soon we are done doing ours, we shall complete the rest and take them to EFCC for taking money without project execution.

The lawmaker also promised to consider other rural roads in his constituency before the expiration of his tenure.
