Kogi Guber: Any Appointee Working Behind the Scenes to Succeed Gov Bello is Wasting Energy – Smart Adeyemi

“… Nobody should be doing one program or another to curry favour for the guber ticket; wether school competition, debate or whatever disguised programs, because the presidential ambition of the governor should be the paramount.”

Senator Smart Adeyemi of Kogi West Senatorial District has bared his mind on Governor Yahaya Bello’s presidential ambition and underground jostle to succeed him, throwing a shade at appointees of the state government who might be planning to succeed the Governor.

Adeyemi speaking to journalists over the weekend during the celebration of Iyara Cultural Day festival, said that it is ill time for anyone to speak or start working towards succeeding governor Bello.

He said what is expedient for political actors in the APC is to first unite behind Governor Bello to achieve his presidential ambition; as the guber race is still afar off.

“As for me, I believe for now, nobody should talk about Governorship ambition or power shift. Nobody should be doing one program or another to curry favour for the guber ticket; wether school competition, debate or whatever disguised programs, because the presidential ambition of the governor should be the paramount.

“Any appointees or political players that is doing such is an enemy of the governor. Such person does not love the governor because it shows inconsideration to the governor’s ambition.

“If the governor became President, that is like getting the ‘elephant heads’; why should we then be preoccupied with small fries when we are targeting the ‘elephant heads’.”

Adeyemi described workings behind the scenes to succeed Bello as a wasted energy, as every ambition should be subsumed under his Presidential ambition.

On power shift, he said even though he believes it is desirable, power shift agitation is not expedient now.

“Governor Bello said it often and often and he still repeated same today (Saturday) that he believes in fairness , equity and justice to every senatorial district an indeed every segment of the state, he is not a man (like past governors in the state )who said one thing and did the other. He is too honourable to fail his words

“Look let me tell you the reasons I am supporting governor Bello for president, apart from supporting my return to the senate, governor Yahaya Bello is a highly focussed and detribalized Nigerian who does not deal with you on the basis of your religion or where you come from,” he said.

Adeyemi asked not to be joined in conversations bothering on succeeding Yahaya Bello as Governor.
