A joint security team made up of the police, the military and vigilantes has rescued three kidnap victims from a forest in Kogi State.

Spokesman for the state police command, William Aya, said the trio were saved after a gun duel between the team and the suspected kidnappers.

Aya said two of the rescued persons– Musa Abdullahi and Abdulazeez Adamu —were abducted from a vehicle along Osara Road on their way from Ekpoma, Edo State, to Jos in Plateau State on May 15.

The third victim– Yusuf Ibrahim — was seized from a trailer on the same date and location.

Aya said: “ Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Obajana Division in collaboration with the Army and Vigilantes rescued three kidnapped victims during a raid at Ankomi forest.

“All the victims were rescued unhurt after a gun duel with the hoodlums in the bush.

“Due to the superior firepower of the joint security team, the hoodlums abandoned their victims and fled with gunshot injuries. ‘’

He advised adjoining communities to the forest to be on the lookout for anyone seeking medical attention and report such a person to any nearby security formation.
