Kogi Central: Senator Ohere Faults Tribunal Judgment, Heads for Appeal

Senator Abubakar Ohere has faulted the outcome of the tribunal judgment declaring Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the February 25 Kogi Central Senatorial election.

The tribunal led by Justice K.A. Orjiako had earlier, said Ohere results were inflated in nine polling units of Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA) while that of Natasha was intentionally reduced in the areas by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as three other polling units result that was deliberately not entered for Natasha in the same LGA.

 

The Senator, who reacted shortly after the tribunal judgement, said the manner and process it went was not completely based on the position of the law.

 

Ohere opposing the tribunal stated the facts of the law were not properly played, and process not duly followed.

 

Thus, he has swiftly moved ahead to appeal the judgment at the appellate Court.

 

Senator Ohere who was recently named the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Contents, said he is determined to defend his electoral victory, noting that he is confident of reclaiming his mandate.

 

While urging his supporters to remain calm as they pursue the next legal option, Ohere said he will continue his legislative activities as expected at the red chamber.
