There is a massive buzz in the Garden City as a daughter of Kogi State, Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, is currently on the way to shatter the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous aloud Bible reading.
The grueling six-day spiritual marathon began on June 22, 2026, at the upscale Novotel Hotel on Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The faith enthusiast and proud Kogi indigene is aiming for a jaw-dropping 144 hours under strict global guidelines. She reads for 22 hours daily, with only a tiny 5-minute break allowed per hour to rest her vocal cords.
Videos of her inspiring performance are already going viral across Facebook and Instagram, triggering massive support from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. Church members, family, and well-wishers are currently storming the venue to cheer her on as she flips through the scriptures, pushing her physical and spiritual endurance to the absolute limit.
Kogi Heritage
Though currently executing her historic run in Rivers State, Habibat’s family roots trace directly back to Kogi State in North-Central Nigeria. Her names, “Salawudeen” and “Ihiovi,” beautifully reflect her rich Ebira heritage from Kogi, a background her kinsmen have loudly celebrated online.
Ministry Affiliation
She is a dedicated worker and member of The Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt. Her Senior Pastor, Dr. Andy Osakwe, has actively mobilized the local Christian community to serve as witnesses and prayer pillars for her.
The Mission:
According to the event organizers, Habibat’s marathon is far more than a quest for personal fame. It is a deliberate spiritual movement designed to spark a fresh hunger for the Word of God, awaken hearts, and lift a blanket of divine blessing over Nigeria.
With this bold move, Habibat joins the elite league of resilient Nigerians—such as Hilda Baci and Tunde Onakoya—who continue to put the country on the global map through pure grit, stamina, and dedication.
The marathon is scheduled to conclude on July 2, 2026, after which all recorded evidence will be submitted to the Guinness World Records panel for official verification.
