Kogi Assembly Suspends Okene Chairman

The Kogi State House of Assembly has  on Tuesday suspended the Chairman of Okene Local Government Area, Abdulrazaq Muhammad over allegations of undue arrest and intimidation. 

The suspension followed a communication from the office of the Governor and read during plenary by Speaker of the House, Kolawole Matthew.

The House resolved to set up a committee to investigate the allegations while the Chairman is on suspension. 

The Speaker has directed the Vice-Chairman of the Local Government, Bilikisu Jimoh to take over office pending conclusion of investigation. 

Reacting to the suspension, the Chairman said he had not received official communication despite reports.

He said he would act once officially communicated.
