Kogi Assembly Complies with Gov Bello’s Letter, Suspends Council Chairman

In obeisance to a letter of indictment sent to the chambers by Governor Yahaya Bello, the Kogi State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Kogi Local Government Area, Mr. Abdulkareem Isah Sanni.

Mr. Sanni whose suspension was ratified on Wednesday was alleged to be involved in criminal activities not spelt out.

The Speaker of the House, Prince Kolawole Matthew had read the letter of indictment from the Governor, upon which the House resolved on the suspension.

Matthew in his ruling said the suspension of the council boss will last pending the outcome of the investigation being carried out by the Department of State Service, (DSS).

He however directed that the Vice Chairman of the Local Government Hasana Jezhi should step in as acting chairman.

Reacting to the development, the suspended Chairman has urged his supporters to be strong, calling for calm and support for the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Speaking through a press release obtained by Ebira Reporters, Sanni pledged his loyalty to Governor Yahaya Bello, vowing to galvanize more support for his presidential ambition.

In another development, the House received a N30 billion supplementary budget from the Governor for approval.

The budget has been referred to the House Committee on Budget and Finance to act upon.
