Kogi Guber: Ahmed Usman Ododo Wins APC Ticket

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully concluded the governorship primary elections in Kogi State, and Ahmed Usman Ododo has won the ticket.

Ododo who was an Auditor-General of Local Government for seven years under Governor Yahaya Bello, emerged the flag-bearer of APC for the November 11th off-cycle governorship election in the state.

 

He defeated eight other aspirants who jostled for the party’s ticket.

 

Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon who served as the Returning Officer of the Direct Primary election, declared Ododo, having polled the highest votes.

 

He polled 78,704 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ozigi Salami who got 1,506 votes.

 

The candidate is a chartered accountant and certified public accountant who oversaw the management and auditing of the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

Recall that on the eve of the primary election, the Deputy Governor of the state, Edward Onoja; former Chief of staff, Finance Commissioner, Accountant General and the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku; Asiwaju Asiru Idris, Momohjimoh Jibril and Yakubu Oseni withdrew from the race.
