In the bid to reign jungle justice on a thief, some irate youths have killed an innocent man mistaken to be the thief who stole a mobile cellphone in Felele, Lokoja, Kogi State.
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the incident, noting that investigation has been commenced.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya who confirmed the incident, disclosed that two suspects have been arrested in relation to the Killings.
Our Correspondent gathered that the incident happened on Monday when a suspected thief snatched a mobile cellphone and sneaked through a nearby shop to escape being apprehended.
Sources narrated that the mob who took laws into their hands, mistook the shop owner to be the suspect, mobbed him and in the process killed him.
Upon realization that the deceased was not the real suspect, in a reprisal attack, sympathisers of the shop owner located one of the alleged killers and killed him, setting his corpse ablaze.
