Insecurity: Chairman Imposes Curfew on Commercial Motorcyclists in Okene


As part of efforts to tackle insecurity, the Chairman of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada in the council.

The Special Adviser to the Chairman on Media and Publicity, Abdulmumin Abubakar in a statement said the Chairman also ordered the arrest of commercial motorcycle operator leaders for breach of security in the local government. 

“Motorcyclist operators now to operate between 6:30am-6:30pm in Okene

“The Council Chairman also set up joint security taskforce to further regulate the activities of commercial motorcyclist in Okene Local Government.

“With effect from today 22 November 2021, all commercial motorcyclist are mandated to wear unified reflective jackets. 

“Security agencies have orders to enforce the directives without delay,” he said.
