Governor Yahaya Bello has debunked the widespread rumour of sickness and death, and assured the people of Kogi State that he is alive hale and hearty.
The rumour had saturated the media space in the state, with no prior statement from the Governor’s handlers on the veracity of the claims, now found to be false.
Bello, who returned to Lokoja on Thursday to a rousing welcome by his supporters, stated in a video that the rumour was a fabrication.
“Don’t mind them, they are just lying. It’s just pure lie. There’s nothing, not a headache and no ache anywhere. I’m hale and hearty, stronger than ever before. They are simply lying. It’s a fabrication,” he said.
He further said he was back to the state to continue to deal with criminals.
“I’m back to Lokoja in government house. We’ll continue to fight the criminals. We’ll deal with the criminals,” he said.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed had said the Governor was away to engage in crucial meetings.
“During his visit to the capital city last week, he engaged in a series of crucial meetings involving the Nigerian Governors Forum and various Committees on Subsidy Removal Intervention Plans.
“The Governor also participated in essential private discussions during his time in Abuja over the week,” he said.
