Gov Bello Reinstates Appointees Who Resigned to Contest Guber Primary

Governor Yahaya Bello has approved the immediate reinstatement of his appointees who had resigned to contest the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

All of them, however, withdrew from the race when Bello openly declared his support for the then state’s Local Government Auditor-General, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who eventually emerged winner of the primary election.

Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike Ayoade, confirmed this in a statement in Lokoja on Monday.

She said Bello has also ordered several other key government officials to resume their previous positions

According to her, they include Jamiu Abdulkarim Asuku, Chief of Staff and Jibrin Momoh as the state’s Accountant-General.

Others are Yakubu Okala, former State Auditor-General; Idris Asiwaju Asiru, Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning; and Barr Momodu Ozigi Deedat, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The statement, however, said that the reinstatement of the Auditor-General and the commissioners is subject to the scrutiny and confirmation of the state House of Assembly.

It stated clearly that they can only resume after being duly approved by the house.

“Note that these individuals had previously submitted their resignation letters in March.

“Their reinstatement has been carefully considered and approved by the State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

“We trust that the reinstatement of these officials will further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the state government in delivering its mandate to the people of Kogi State,” the statement said.
