Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has pledged to relocate to Kano State for two weeks to lead grassroots campaigns for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bello disclosed this during an empowerment event organized by the Leke Abejide Foundation in Kano, where he urged Yoruba, Ebira, Igala, and other non-indigenous communities residing in the state to maximize their electoral support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the gathering, the former governor asserted that the estimated 500,000 votes generated by non-indigenous groups in Kano during the 2023 presidential election should be expanded to deliver at least two million votes for President Tinubu in 2027.
Bello urged northern voters to support the President’s second-term bid to enable the administration to complete a eight-year tenure, pointing to ongoing federal projects—including the rehabilitation of the Kano–Abuja Federal Highway—as evidence of infrastructure delivery in the North.
Speaking at the event, the sponsor of the foundation and member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide, announced a ₦500 million interest-free loan facility targeted at women cooperative societies across Kano State.
Abejide, who noted that he operated business ventures in Kano for 34 years prior to his legislative career, stated that the intervention was designed to assist traders and vulnerable groups, including widows drawn from Yoruba, Igala, Ebira, and northern minority communities.
In his remarks, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, commended Abejide for extending economic empowerment initiatives beyond his constituency in Kogi State.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding non-indigenous residents, highlighting the appointment of special advisers representing non-native communities in Kano to ensure inclusive governance.
