Gov Bello Facilitated Fani-Kayode’s Defection, Says Kogi Commissioner

Kogi Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has said his principal, Gov. Yahaya Bello, was instrumental to the defection of former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fanwo said this on Friday during an interaction with reporters on recent developments in the State.

According to Fanwo, Bello was excited that Fani-Kayode was back in the APC because he sees the former Minister as a progressive Nigerian who speaks truth to power.

“FFK was introduced to the President yesterday and he also met my principal, Gov. Yahaya Bello, who was largely instrumental to his defection to the APC.

“The mind of the governor is that he is very happy about this defection and he’s looking forward to working with the progressive minded person like Femi Fani-Kayode.

“We have been seeing a lot of positive and negative reactions but our own is that we are going to work very closely with him. Progressive politics is not about the party you belong but your character and the values you hold and to us, Femi Fani-Kayode has always been a progressive.

“He speaks truth to power no matter where he belongs and we need the truth to shape the nation. The governor sees him as someone who believes in a united Nigeria and so, believes they can work together in moving the country forward.

“We have seen a lot of reports including those of what FFK said in the past about the part and the President which have been brought back. At every point in time, your convictions change. He now believes in the leadership of the APC that is why he decided to join the APC.

“When we were about to start our membership drive, the Governor thought it might be possible to bring him then but there were certain people in the party who are afraid that someone like Femi Fani-Kayode coming in will affects their interest. We are very happy that he has come to join us,” he said.
