Four Months after Appointment, Kogi Govt Inaugurates Committee to Develop Tourism 

The Kogi State Government on Tuesday inaugurated members of the state Advisory-Intervention Committee on Culture and Tourism whom were appointed four months ago. 

Recall that the government earlier in August, announced the appointment of the nine-member committee, and their inauguration had been stalled for undisclosed reasons. 

The Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike Ayoade had revealed in a statement announcing the appointment, that the team is chaired by the Director-General of the the National Council for Arts and Culture, Segun Runsewe. 

Inaugurating the committee via zoom, Governor Yahaya Bello who was represented by his Deputy, Edward Onoja said the tourism sector is one of the thematic areas of the administration. 

“The Tourism Sector is one His Excellency’s thematic areas, hence, this inauguration is a signpost of all pockets of intervention we have created for the development of Culture and Tourism. We believe that this committee will help unlock and optimize Kogi’s tourism potential,” Onoja said. 

Members of the committee include Nike Okundaye of Nike Art Gallery and Wale Akinboboye, CEO of La Campagne Tropicana Resort, Badagry.

Other members of the team are Ronke Bello, Joseph Makoju, Kehinde Quadri Adu, and Yesufu Abubakar.

Salifu Idachaba, the Kogi commissioner for culture and tourism, is the alternate chair while Femi Bolaji serves as the secretary.
