About four persons have been killed and houses razed down in a rival cult clash in Kabawa, a community in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.
ebirareporters.com gathered that the free for all gun battle between the rival cult groups started on Monday night, and lasted till dawn, leaving the community in despair.
Residents whom were thrown into panic, were seen scampering to safety in more secured areas in the Lokoja metropolis while the clash lasted.
An insider discosed that the crisis was as a result of reprisal attack by another group following the killing of one of their member.
The sources added that the cultists who were armed with guns and other dangerous weapons invaded some houses, attacked people and burned houses they believed belong to rival group.
When the Police arrived on Tuesday, they were reportedly engaged by the cultists in a gun battle which lasted for hours before they were contained.
Whilst 15 suspects were apprehended, some others evaded arrest by jumping into River Niger.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi Command, William Aya noted that the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka had brought the situation under control, noting that 15 suspects have been arrested by the command.
He however confirmed the death of only one person, and assured that investigation had commenced on the incident.
