Ahmed Ogembe

Kogi Central Senate Contender, Senator Ahmed Ogembe on Saturday denied rumours of connivance with political opponents to step down from the 2027 race.

The former Senator who is the flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), denied the rumour in a press statement, describing the rumour as unfounded, mischievous and the handiwork of political detractors.

Ogembe stated he has neither entered into any agreement nor held discussions with any individual, group or political party aimed at compromising his aspiration.

“As a law-abiding citizen and a committed democrat, I have consistently advocated for peaceful, issue-based, and people-oriented politics. My campaign remains focused on presenting practical solutions, constructive ideas, and a clear vision for the advancement of Kogi Central and Nigeria as a whole.

“I hold all my co-contestants in high esteem and regard them with respect, brotherhood, and sisterhood. Politics should never be a platform for bitterness or division but rather an opportunity for healthy competition in service of the people. Consequently, I will continue to conduct myself with dignity, civility, and respect for all stakeholders throughout the electoral process.

“Let it be clearly understood that I remain fully in the race and I am in the race to win. I am proud to fly the flag of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and remain convinced that our party represents the aspirations of millions of Nigerians who desire competent leadership, accountable governance, and national renewal.

“My candidature is driven by the best interests of the people of Kogi Central. Beyond my proven record of service, I bring valuable legislative experience, strategic relationships, and ranking opportunities that will enhance effective representation and attract greater dividends of democracy to our district. My tenure in the National Assembly provided me with a deep understanding of legislative processes and fostered productive working relationships with the leadership of the National Assembly—experience that remains invaluable in delivering meaningful development to our people,” he said.

He urged his supporters and the general public to disregard these false narratives and remain focused.

Ogembe is contending for the Kogi Central Senate seat with strong opponents like the incumbent Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and former Governor Yahaya Bello.
